"Amy"

Amy was playing in
the garden when she heard a muffled cry coming from a
box just outside the fence. Amy was very curious so she
thought she would go out and check what it was. Written
on the box was: "Please give these babies a good home".
Amy thought 'Mummy will be so mad if she finds me out
here', but the curiosity was too much. She carefully
opened the box and to her surprise, out popped the heads
of 2 kittens. After letting out a squeal which bought
her Mummy out to see what was happening, she carefully
picked up first one kitten and then her Mummy picked up
the other.
'Oh Mummy, can we keep them?'.
'We really
shouldn't', her mother said, '...but they are so cute.
Bring them inside'. Once inside mother took a good look
at the tiny bundles of fur and said, 'I think they need
a bath, this little fellow has a big smudge of dirt on
his face'. The other kitten kept trying to get away.
When Amy
turned and
said to it 'That's s'nuff', mother laughed and asked Amy
what she would call the kittens, 'I don't know' said
Amy. 'I know', said Mother, 'this little one with the
dirt on his face can be called Smudge and the other
little kitten we will call Snuff'. 'Why Snuff Mommy?'.
Mother smiled and said '...well, I think two kittens are
snuff'.
