"Antoinette"
the bathing
beauty

This pincushion
measures 20cm or just under 8" tall, from the base of
the pincushion to the top of her head. The little bear
herself is only 12.5cm or just under 5" tall.
Antoinette's sewn
onto the pincushion with a few of stitches. Her arms and
head are not jointed. She's ladder stitched in place.
Antoinette was made from creamy white long Sassy mini
fur and cotton fabric for her bathing suit and mop cap.
She has German black
glass eyes which are framed by long eyelashes. Her mop
cap is decorated with silk flowers and her bathing suit
with a golden brooch. Antoinette's arms are wired, so
she can hold a modeline clay life saver (made by me)
with one paw, and a towel with the other paw. Her face
was meticulously airbrushed and sculpted to give her
that sweet look. She has a simulated open mouth and hand
embroidered nose.
Turquoise coloured
brocade fabric and wool felt to simulate the sand was
used to make the pincushion, decorated with a fine
ribbon around the outer edge and a few sea shells were
glued to one side of the bear's feet.
