"Nodd'n
& Lumpy"

"Nodd'n" was
ready to go to bed. He had wash his hands, face and
behind his ears. He couldn't believe how grubby he was!
After brushing his teeth, he picked up "Lumpy",
his elephant toy, and went to say good night to his mum
and dad.
When they saw his
little friend Lumpy, all
stained from playing outside in the dirt, his mum said
to Nodd'n, '... you can't
take Lumpy to bed with you,
he's too grubby. Give him to me and I'll give him a good
wash in the morning...'
'Nodd'n
said, '... but momma you know I can't sleep without
Lumpy... he'll be sad and
lonely and maybe he'll run away from home 'cause he'll
think I don't love him no more...'
His mother saw how
upset Nodd'n was, and
decided Lumpy wasn't as
dirty as she though he was. '... ok, you can take
Lumpy with you to bed
tonight, but he'll have to be cleaned first thing
tomorrow morning... Now SHOO! before I change my mind...
