"Olaf"

...the wise bear...

This is the story of “Olaf”, mostly known as “The Old Bear“.
He lives with his wife and family, in the midst of the forest of the old country.
He likes to keep to himself these days, but comes out and visits the bears in the village when weather permits, where he’s very well respected and listened to, as he gives advice to one and all.

Most of the time, he spends looking after the animals that accidentally hurt themselves while looking for food in the forest.

He is one of the last wise bears, and as such he is very much respected and loved by everyone.

As you can see, Olaf is carrying a little cub inside the hood of his coat. Olaf has rescued this little fellow and is taking him to safer ground after a fire in the forest left him without a home.

Olaf stands 19.5 inches / 49 cm tall
Fully jointed with discs, bolts, nuts and an extra neck joint
He has armature in his arms for more poses and to hold onto the little bear
Polyfill, plastic beads and garnet powder were used to give him quite a nice weight
Made from luxurious dense matted mohair and ultra suede for his paws and inner ears.
English smoked topaz glass eyes, framed by gold reading glasses
He's been meticulously sculpted and airbrushed to give him that worldly look on his face, and has an embroidered nose and mouth
Olaf wears a pair of cotton pants, grandpa shirt, vest and a fully lined, fur trimmed, hooded, long cashmere wool coat.
He carries his staff with a bell at the top end, a set of keys, a rusty bucket full of bird seeds to feed the hungry birds in Winter, and a large handmade and airbrushed over the shoulder bag to carry all the herbs and paraphernalia to heal the sick and injured animals.

The little bear with Olaf has also been designed and created by me, from vintage sparse mohair.
He's about 6 inches / 16 cm tall.
He has English smoked topaz glass eyes.
He's been meticulously sculpted and airbrushed to give him that worldly look on his face, and has an embroidered nose and mouth.
